01
Sūrya Bedha
-
Sit in any Meditative āsana, keeping the spine, neck and head in a straight line.

Left hand in Chin mudrā and right hand in Viṣṇu mudrā, close the left nostril, inhale through the right nostril. Close both nostrils and retain the breath while applying Jālandhara and Mūla bandhas. Hold the breath to a comfortable level, thereafter, release the bandhas first and exhale slowly and completely through the left nostril. This would conclude one round.

In Sūrya Bedha, inhalation is through right nostril and exhalation through the left.

Start with 8-10 rounds and gradually increase the count.

Ujjayi

Sit in any Meditative āsana, keeping the spine, neck and head in a straight line.

Close the mouth, inhale through both the nostrils. Close the glottis (the part of the larynx/ voice box consisting of the vocal cords and the opening between them) in order to produce a soft sobbing sound of uniform pitch.
After comfortable inhalation close both the nostrils with the right hand in, apply and bandhas and retain the breath. Release the bandhas first and exhale though the left nostril (by closing right nostril with the right thumb). This would conclude one round. -
In Ujjayi, inhalation is through both nostrils and exhalation through the left.

Start with 3-5 rounds and gradually increase the count.

Sitkari

Sit in any Meditative āsana, keeping the spine, neck and head in a straight line. Both hands in Chin mudrā .

Touch the tip of the tongue to the upper palate. Inhale through the mouth and exhale through both nostrils.

Sitāli
-
Sit in any Meditative āsana, keeping the spine, neck and head in a straight line. Both hands in Chin mudrā .
-
Fold the tongue as a tube and gently keep it between the lips. Inhale through the mouth and exhale through both nostrils.

Bhastrikā
-
Sit in any Meditative āsana.
-
Inhale and Exhale rapidly using diaphragm. Apply both Jālandhara and Mūla bandhas.

Start with only 10 rapid expulsions of breath in the beginning. And eventually with practice slowly increase.

Brahmarī
-
Sit in any Meditative āsana, keeping the spine, neck and head in a straight line.
-
Inhale through the nose, producing snoring sound. And exhale. This would help to strengthen the vocal cords and throat muscles.

Samnu
-
Sit in any Meditative āsana, keeping the spine, neck and head in a straight line. Left hand in Chin mudrā and right hand in Viṣṇu mudrā.

Close the right nostril, using right hand thumb. Through the left nostril inhale for the count of five, retain the breath for twenty counts and slowly and completely exhale for ten counts. Throughout the process of inhalation retention and exhalation, mentally repeat mantra 'Yaṃ', focusing on heart chakra.

Now repeat the process with left nostril. Inhale through left nostril for a count of five, retain for twenty seconds and exhale. Throughout the process of inhalation retention and exhalation, mentally repeat mantra 'Raṃ'

Inhale though right nostril. Retain the breath and exhale through left. Mentally repeat the mantra 'Taṃ'.

Inhale though left nostril. Retain the breath and exhale through right. Mentally repeat the mantra 'Laṃ'.
This completes one cycle, only a maximum of four rounds is advise.
