Rāja Yoga 

In Rāja Yoga Sūtras, sage Patañjali mentioned that Rāja Yoga delas directly with mind. It is also referred as Aṣṭāṅga yoga. It is said that by practicing the eight-limbs of yoga (explained below), one can reach the state of Samādhi.

The Eight Limbs of Rāja Yoga

1. 
Yamas (Restraints)

  1. Ahiṁsā (non-violence)

  2. Satya (truthful)

  3. Asteya (non-stealing)

  4. Bramacharya (chastity)

  5. Aparigraha (freedom from greed, possession beyond needs)

2.
Niyamas (Observances)

  1. Śauca (purity of mind and actions)

  2. Santoṣa (contentment)

  3. Tapas (austerity- control on desires)

  4. Svādhyāya (study of scriptures)

  5. Īśvara Praṇidhāna (believe in higher power/ God)

Āsanas (Steady Poses)

Prāṇāyāma (Control of Vital Energy)

Dhāraṇa (Concentration)

6.
Dhyāna (Meditation)

7.
Prartyāhāra (Disconnect/ Withdrawal of Mind from Five Senses)

8.
Samādhi (Super-conscious State)
